Boomwhackers

Boomwhackers are tuned percussion tubes. These hollow, lightweight, brightly coloured plastic tubes vary in size and each has its own pitch, which is indicated on the tube itself. The high-octave tubes vary in length from 30 to 62 centimetres, while the bass tube is slightly over a metre long. They're very comfortable to hold, and produce a great sound when you strike them against your hand, a table or the floor, for instance. Boomwhackers are sold in a variety of sets and virtually anyone can pick them up and play them—you hardly need any knowledge of rhythms or music. In short, they're unique instruments that have taught hundreds of thousands of people the joy of making music.
